The 57th Annual Miss Universe® Canada Pageant

ON - The Winter Garden Theatre - April 18th - April 29th 2008.
Toronto, ON (Monday, January 28th 2008) - A
Canadian tradition, the 57th annual Miss Universe® Canada
Pageant will be held at The Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto,
Ontario. The reigning Miss Universe® Canada, Toronto's own
Inga Skaya will assist in crowning the new Miss Universe®
Canada 2008 before a live audience.
Miss Universe® Canada is the Canadian representative sent
to compete at the annual Miss Universe® pageant. Canada is
one of only four countries (along with France, Germany, and the
USA) which have competed in each Miss Universe® pageant since
its inception in 1952.
With an established reputation for presenting world-class special
events, The Winter Garden Theatre has been chosen to be the host
venue for the 2008 Miss Universe® Canada pageant for the first
time.
Over sixty delegates from across Canada will compete for the title
of Miss Universe® Canada 2008 awarded on Monday, April 28th
2008. The contestants will arrive in Toronto beginning Friday
April 18th to kick off Pageant activities and spend time getting
to know each other, rehearsing for the show, and visiting Toronto
and the surrounding area.
The pageant consists of two separate audience attended events:
Pageant Presentation Show (Saturday, April 26th, 2008) All 60+
delegates from across Canada compete before a live audience and
a eleven-person judging panel in the traditional categories (Swimwear
and Evening Gown) for the chance to be selected as one of the
Judges' 15 semi-finalists. In addition, 5 segment winners (more
details to come soon), will be joining the group of semi-finalists
for a chance to win the title.
Pageant Finals Show (Monday, April 28th, 2008) The top 20 semi-finalists
from Saturday's Pageant Presentation Show will compete for the
title of Miss Universe® Canada 2008 in front of the same eleven-person
judging panel as well as our live audience in the traditional
categories (Swimwear and Evening Gown), plus the addition of a
live interview/question and answer segment. However, all 60+ delegates
will be involved in production numbers throughout the show.
Miss Universe® Canada delegates are selected each year by
competing in local and regional casting calls and pageants held
in select areas across the country. 'Beauties of Canada' has the
exclusive rights to send a Canadian representative to the Miss
Universe® Pageant. The titleholders of Miss Universe®
Canada personify the combination of beauty and intelligence that
defines women of the 21st Century. As a company producing the
Miss Universe® Canada pageant, 'Beauties of Canada' has a
corporate structure and goals defined by the Miss Universe®
Organization.
