Ashleigh is an accomplished dancer, model, and actress, and an advocate for the arts in her community.
She was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK, and began dancing at age 3, studying ballet. She went on to complete her RAD Advanced exam, and now studies a range of styles from jazz to salsa.
Her love of dance led to being accepted to the CCPA in Vitoria, BC to study acting, dance, and music. She then continued to the NYFA in Los Angeles, CA to study acting and production. Ashleigh now brings her knowledge to her to the next generation through teaching.
Ashleigh is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Miss Universe Canada and to have the love and support of her family the whole way.

What would be your “dream job” in life?:
My dream job would be to travel the world and teach children in different countries the arts (dance, music, and drama). I love travelling, I love teaching, and I love children. Combining all of these things would be my absolute dream job. I’m striving to reach my “dream job” everyday by creating new dance programs in my community and continually educating myself.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had:
I started teaching dance when I was 15… and half of my students were older than me. I had a teen group and an adult group that were older than me and it was really intimidating at first. Great learning experience!
When I was 13, I was a “ball girl” for the U of S Huskies; this means that when the football went outside of the hash marks, I ran it and switched the balls. I also caught the field goals! This was such an interesting experience because I had to stand in front of the players and watch for the ball. I learnt a lot about football and how to stand my ground!
Where is the most interesting place you have been?
I recently travelled to Nigeria, Africa. More specifically, the state of Lagos. When I first got there I experienced a bit of culture shock. There are people selling things on the street and on the highways; the apartments and homes are lined with barbed wire; and there are no rules on road! It was an amazing experience though and I got to work with people in the dance community there. It was so great to see a completely different way of life, far from my life in Saskatchewan.
What is your philosophy of/in life?
There is an Oscar Wilde quote I love; “be yourself, everyone else is already taken”. My philosophy is to be yourself and go after what you truly want and that’s what I try to live by. By that I mean, be the truest version of yourself and if you want something, go after it. Take action!
