What would be your “dream job” in life?
My dream job would involve traveling and making a difference on a large scale. I have already thought of working for the UN and I would also like to work as a diplomat for the Canadian government. I am achieving my Law degree with that state of mind and have the greatest of ambitions for my future. A big part of my dream job would be to have an opportunity to express my ideas in front of a public that could use their influence for change, which would give weight to my ideas.
I love to try to convince people and even though some may say I am idealistic, I am also very informed and realistic. That is what makes me a good spokesperson. I want to use the charismatic side of my personality to expose innovative ideas to solve the world’s problems. I also love to be in contact with different cultures and get to know these through the people.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
I have had the chance to do the most interesting jobs you can have. First of all, I have been working in an animal shelter for the last 8 years or so. Being someone really close to nature, I enjoy working with animals and love how they give a positive aspect to my life. Seeing families adopting a new friend for life is always a joyful moment and I love helping them pick the one that fits them best.
I also had the opportunity to work for the police of Montreal for 2 years. I covered the main events and got to do a lot of public relations. It was a challenging job and a great life experience.
Where is the most interesting place you have been?
Every time I travel always seems to be the best. I live every experience at 100% and never regret a trip. Through all, I think the most interesting place I have been was Costa Rica. I have to name this one for the life experience I gained in doing it. I went to Costa Rica to study sustainable development and fair trade. I was living with families which provided me the occasion to improve my Spanish since they couldn’t talk either English or French.
Also, it really helped me to discover their culture in its fullest and to understand so much about life and people. I grew up a lot as a person through this experience and it taught me that whatever you achieve in life, you need to stay close to people and have a global conscience with your actions.
What is your philosophy of/in life?
First of all, I am a very optimistic person so that reflects my vision of the world. I have hope that the world’s problem can be solved in a non-violent way (Gandhi) and, on a smaller scale, that every day conflicts can be avoided by showing compassion (Dalai-Lama). I am open-minded to everyone’s beliefs and religions and I think people should show acceptance of other differences since it is what makes the world so intriguing and beautiful.
I also believe it is important to take life a day at a time and to try to not be too self-centered. Helping others is the easiest way to get over our own problems. I strongly promote self-confidence and feeling good in one’s own skin. Happiness, just as love, starts with the acceptance of ourselves. Finally, when going through a confusing period I believe the key is to go back to the source and get in touch with nature, it help puts the importance of hard things back in perspective.
