Natalie Ast is an 18 year old first year student at Ryerson University.
She is in the journalism program and aspires to be a fashion journalist
like her idol, Jeanne Beker. Natalie loves to practice her
French, write and paint and is inspired by her mother and late
grandfather who were both artists. In high school, she was
a self-professed ‘drama kid’ and actively lead in
both the Art and Drama council. As a result, she worked
with the African Medical Research Foundation, and in her spare
time raises money for, and promotes various animal charities in
her community. She founded the Visual Arts Council which
was key for arts awareness, an issue Natalie believes passionately
in.
Since the age of three, she has been in the Russian Vaganova method
ballet training, as well as Latin and flamenco over the past few
years. As a kid, Natalie was shy, and introverted, but through
the arts, has since developed as a public speaker and a colourful
personality. Her personal growth is testament to why she strongly
believes in education in the arts. Natalie’s place
is performing, whether it is dancing or acting, she loves the
energy of the stage and wants to continue developing her passion.
In the future, Natalie would love to open a performing arts school
to instil confidence and culture in children.
