AGE: 26 | HEIGHT: 5'6" | HOMETOWN: BURLINGTON

A third generation Canadian, Amanda was raised in Cambridge, Ontario.  After completing high school, she moved to Toronto to attend the Paramedic Program at Humber College.  She is now working full time as an Advanced Care Paramedic in the GTA, and calls Burlington her home.

Through her work as a Paramedic, Amanda has discovered that her true passion in life is helping others.  She volunteers with a local charity that provides disaster relief, and was deployed to Guatemala.  During the mission, Amanda helped deliver clean water, as well as water purification equipment, to locals affected by flooding.  Amanda hopes to soon have the opportunity to volunteer in medical clinics around the world, as well as at future disaster sites.

Amanda’s background as a nationally competitive synchronized swimmer fuelled her passion for health and fitness.  She competes with a synchronized swimming masters team, as well as weight trains, runs in 10km races, and competes in speed swimming.  To help her learn more about fitness, she completed a personal training course, and now designs work-out programs for her friends and family.

Amanda’s interests are quite diverse - from synchronized swimming, to tactical (SWAT) medicine.  She loves to learn, and is always taking courses and classes.  Some of these include a week long Tactical Medicine course, held at a US National Guard base, a personal training course and a neonatal resuscitation course.  She is currently taking courses in emergency and disaster management at York University.
