Mariana was born in Brazil and moved to Canada at the age of 12. She is currently learning her third language as she completes her B.A Honours at York University in French Studies. Her goal is to become an elementary school teacher. Mariana’s passion for children has lead her to complete her College Education in Early Childhood Education, and is now leading her to Teacher’s College.

Mariana has experience with pageants and modeling as she competed for the title of Miss Brazil Canada in 2005, she won the title of Miss Latina Canada 2007, now she hopes to be able to represent Canada, for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2009.

As a continuation of her late grandmother’s work Mariana founded BASE (Brazilian Association for Social and Educational Support) in 2006, a charity that has the objective to help children in Brazil. Together with her family Mariana has been able to organize two annual Dinner and Dance Fundraisers that were completed with great success. This upcoming December Mariana will go to Brazil to officially open a shelter for abused children, which was one of 2 projects BASE has been funding for two years.
