What would be your "dream job" in life?
After having been blessed with a loving upbringing, a good education, and a sound body and mind, I believe that others should have equal opportunities and hope to further this goal. My dream job would be to work as a doctor-without-borders, and to spread kindness and raise awareness as an inspirational speaker.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life? Why?
Sally was an elderly woman I met while volunteering at a retirement home and her impact on me was as sudden as it was inspiring. I marvelled at her curiosity and flourishing interest despite her age, and was inspired by her commitment to better the world around her. Her determination, wonder, and optimism were contagious, and she has greatly influenced the person I am today.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant competition)
Daring to exceed your boundaries and having the courage to try something new is an important step in my own personal accomplishment. I am proud to have been able to better myself by daring to step outside of my comfort zone. Whether I took on a large charity project whose outcome was initially unclear, or set out to design and make my sister a dress for her sweet sixteen, or entered myself in a improvised public speaking competition, I survived and the experience has made me a more resilient and well-informed individual.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I intend to pursue medical school and become an Orthopedic Surgeon. Volunteering at the orthopedic ward in a downtown hospital, I saw people firsthand, whose movement had been restored through operation. Their gratitude was unimaginable, and some who initially couldn't walk, learned to run again. To see those who have encountered difficulties makes me realize the joys of something as fundamental as the gift of motion. I am working towards a Bachelors' in Biology: Ecology, and then to medical school, all the while acing my honours' courses and excelling in school. I am also continuing to improve my language skills, and am always ready to learn.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
Growing up in the multicultural mélange of Montreal, Quebec, richness of traditions and culture has flavoured my life. Speaking four languages - English, French, Italian & Chinese - has allowed me to reach out to different communities, propelling me to become more dynamic.
At first I was worried about the stark contrast between my appearance and culture, and that of other children around me, but I soon learned to accept myself and embrace the differences which set me apart from others.
My childhood was filled with adventures and expeditions with my two younger siblings. Teamwork and cooperation made it possible to venture into every crevice, and seek out every mystery we could find. As the older sister, I lead the team and learnt the importance of tolerance, sharing, and communication, through our numerous escapades.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
It's amazing, that the experiences which have made the deepest imprint on me are the undertakings where many obstacles have been overcome. One such example was when I taught seniors basic computer skills and typing. Initially it was demanding, and at times repetitive, but through this experience I learnt the value of patience and perseverance.
I was also involved with a project to teach Chinese children English as second language through animated films. I lent my voice to the star of the show Zoey, the animated penguin, and taught vocabulary in both English and Chinese. Although it was an experience that was entirely new to me and I faced many difficulties, I managed to succeed through steadfast determination and by maintaining a positive attitude.

Where is the most interesting place you have been?
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel and explore the world with my family, and I've seen many sites and wonders which have amazed me; one particular site remains close to home, in more than one way. The majestic Niagara Falls in Ontario, which is shared between Canada and the United States, represent a symbolic unity in my heart.
It is amazing to witness the thundering cascade, and recognize that it is made up of the accumulation of single drops of water working in the same direction. It dawned on me that however small and insignificant we may feel at certain times in our lives, much like that one little droplet of water, by working together we could build something as majestic as a waterfall.

What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
My varied ethnic background has made me the ideal canvas for a colourful character, where each culture brings a facet to my personality. On the one hand, my traditional Asian principles teach me to be respectful, polite and always ready to learn from others. Whereas, my Italian counterpart allows me to be lively, impassioned and competitive, and my fiery streak emerges. These contrasting characteristics complement each other, and as a result I am a balanced, confident, and determined individual. I will remain resilient in the face of challenge, and when faced with difficulties be prepared to rethink strategies and plans.

What is your philosophy of/in life?
Embody the change that you wish to affect in the world. Rise up to challenges and stay the course, no matter what obstacles you may encounter. Savour every moment of life and stay focused on the positive. At the end of it all, I hope to have bettered the world for having passed through it!

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
In 10 years I hope to have established myself as a doctor and contributing back to society. I hope to have maintained a positive outlook and remain grounded.

Is there anything you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I am a modern day Renaissance woman, in the respect that I have extremely varied interests and enjoy doing an innumerable amount of things. I could be speaking to a crowd, teaching young children, or writing a poem and each would make me equally happy. I do enjoy sciences and discovering the quantum world of physics and black holes as much as I love playing the saxophone, designing clothes for myself and others, cooking and writing. My curiosity is unquenchable and I am forever learning.
