What would be your "dream
job" in life?
I'm already doing one of my dream jobs, which is working hard
to bring my Charity to full force. To soon see those smiling children,
a feeling like no other.
My second dream job would be to become very involved in the Entertainment
Business. Whether it is through modeling, acting or managing,
I just love the arts!
Name one person, other
than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life?
Why?
There are many people that have played a huge part in my life
and I also know there are more to come. While I wait, there are
two people that I can say have already played a huge part in influencing
my life.
My brother Juan Carlos Vagge was born with disabilities, even
so he fights for larger things in life. He has shown me to really
appreciate and see that anyone is capable of doing anything. Like
he says "Never say Never."
She might not know this but a young woman who entered my life
7 years ago, is someone I now consider my sister. Sara Guevara
has taught me to be more embracing to others, in a sense she made
me a softy and accepting a helping hand. She taught me how to
cry and not needing to be so tough all the time, for that I thank
her.
What is the proudest personal
accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant
competition)
This is a hard question because I have many, but one that really
stands out was becoming a Canadian Citizen along-side my brother.
For it was his and my moment where we knew we were lucky, considering
we were once orphans on the streets of Mexico City. We have been
given a chance to make something of ourselves in this beautiful
country we both now call home.
What is your career ambition
and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Well, one is to continue with my charity and make it successful
in its mission. We have already had fundraising events and have
been contacting different charities. We also started to sell piñatas
to raise money for the Charity. As we slowly build the core of
the Charity, we hope in about 6 months we can start working in
specific areas.
Another goal is to continue modeling, acting and then to open
my own modeling agency. At the moment I'm in research mode, chatting
with industry entrepreneurs to get a better understanding of this
industry. I'd love to open my agency in about 5 year's time.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was
like.
Well, from the time I was born until about 3 ½ years old,
I lived on the streets of Mexico City. You may think "how
could she remember?" trust me those few years on the streets
and in the orphanage played a large part in how I am today. Walking
around bare foot, barely clothed, no food and not having that
love of a mother and father was hard. This experience made me
appreciate my current adopted parents and how thankful I am to
be chosen to live this luxurious life I live now.
Growing up in Burnaby, British Columbia was a huge shock in the
first few years. Having all the food I wanted, clothing, my own
bed and wonderful new family. It was great! Till my first day
of school, that's where I noticed that everyone didn't speak Spanish
and looked all different. I cried and cried, I thought they were
all aliens, but slowly started to learn English and learn how
many different cultures there were.
Growing up with my adopted family was a blessing. My adopted mother
and grandmother who were born and raised in Mexico made sure I
never forgot where I came from and to be proud of my ethnicity.
My adopted father and his sister (my aunt) who were both born
and raised in Italy taught me to also be Italian. I grew up in
a great neighbourhood where I met many wonderful neighbours and
friends.
I will admit it was hard at times because I was a huge tom-boy
and always wanted to play with the boys. It's funny when I look
back, to see how I was and who I met. Darn I was stubborn and
thought I knew everything. I was a huge reader in books and joined
every sport even though my mom wanted me to be a pretty lady.
So I guess in the end, I spent my childhood learning and experiencing
many things. There were good moments and bad moments, but they
have made me who I am today.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
I've had many jobs, because I'm such a knowledge seeker. I still
want to experience and learn new things in the work industry.
I've worked in modeling, acting, newspaper, finance, salon, restaurant,
retail, mining, corporate, import export, fitness industry and
so on. I will say that my favourite place to this day was MacDonald's
Restaurant. I would do the shift that was till 3 AM in the morning,
drive-thru. It was the best, worked along-side two 'younger' older
women, who would make some fancy good on the grill and have the
best laughs ever.
List any volunteering you
have done.
Volunteered with Battered Women Society
Volunteered at Dogwood Lodge Senior's Residence
Volunteered at Burnaby Heritage Village Museum (learned how to
make butter there)
Where is the most interesting place you have been?
OHH! Good Question.
So far, the most interesting place was the Pyramid in Oaxaca Mexico.
What an experience I had there, the magic and essence you feel.
It's not a heavily toured place, which was nice, so I could wander
around and appreciate the history there. This Pyramid is at the
top of a mountain that overlooks the city of Oaxaca, just breath
taking. When we were wandering around I took a moment on the side
of the mountain. To think how it would've been back then? When
all of a sudden I heard this beautiful chirping, like nothing
I've heard before. It filled the whole area with this beautiful
song. I found out it was a cricket's song of mating, but there
were thousands chirping all at the same time. WOW is all I could
say and stayed there for 2 hours listening and just taking it
all in.
I know there is more for me to see, for I take any chance to travel
and see the world through the eyes of the people around these
areas. So, I can't wait for the next place to take my breath away,
be it with the history, its nature or the culture of the people.
What makes you unique and
different from the other contestants?
I guess I would have to say being an orphan, living and surviving
on the streets alone, and then being one of the lucky ones to
make it to the orphanage and then Canada. The hardships that I
have been exposed to and dealt with at such an early age; taking
these experiences and being able to grow and share them with others.
That being said, I think all the contestants have their own uniqueness
about them; otherwise, we would all be robots.
What is your philosophy
of/in life?
"YOU MAKE YOUR DESTINY!"
I live by this, for each person has the power to change, grow,
succeed and do anything in life. It's not someone taking the step
for you, but it's you alone that can take the step, people can
only lend a helping hand. So you can either take the step and
make your own destiny by changing it or letting it flow the way
it is.
What do you hope to be
doing in 10 years?
Travelling the world, watching the Charity grow, helping people,
nature and owning my own modeling agency. Most important, loving
life and learning new things.
Is there anything
you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that
has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
Most people don't know but I was a Chiclet Kid, meaning, when
I was an orphan in Mexico City I sold those little gums on the
streets. That experience has given me an appreciation in everything
I have right now.
Another thing, I was bitten by a dog on my lower lip and had to
go through 2 reconstructive surgeries. I still have the scars,
but it hasn't stopped me from modeling nor loving dogs.
