What would be your "dream
job" in life?
I am a woman who has many different interests and I am passionate
about each and every one of them. I see my ultimate dream job
incorporating my love of travelling, meeting new people, and being
creative. Being an international actress, travelling to film around
the world while learning about people through both my roles and
meeting people in the different cities and countries I visit,
while portraying roles that would bring humanitarian and social
issues to awareness would truly be a dream come true.
Name one person, other
than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life?
Why?
I am proud to say my cousin Emily has had the biggest influence
on my life. She is a figure who has been consistently encouraging
and supportive in everything I do. She has helped me to believe
in myself, and what I am capable of achieving. She has taught
me to always persevere and stay positive in even the most difficult
times. Above all, she has always known how to brighten up the
best and worst of days with her incredible sense of humour, reminding
me to always look on the brighter side, enjoy all my blessings
and to always laugh.
What is the proudest personal
accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant
competition)
I believe it is important to make the most of every day, so for
me personally, I strive to feel I have accomplished something
and have something to be proud of each and every day of my life.
I have been very proud of my hard work and academic achievements,
my dedication to charities and volunteering, and for my work as
a social support worker. However, I feel my proudest personal
accomplishment is the growth and development of my own personal
character. I had a very shy side to my personality growing up,
I have gone through difficult experiences, and I have not always
felt confident. I have worked very hard to overcome being shy,
facing and taking on new challenges, and learning how to stand
up and show people "this is who I am." In doing this
is have discovered so much and really surprised myself of what
I am capable of achieving. I now see that it does not come easy
to anybody, and I encourage others to find the courage within
themselves to be true to who they are, and to always follow their
dreams.
What is your career ambition
and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to pursue a Career in both journalism and
film and television acting. I hope to become a public personality
in raising awareness on the issues and events occurring around
our world. I hope to do this both through media journalism and
broadcast, and in portraying roles that would bring humanitarian
and social issues to light. In order to fulfill my goal I am currently
studying at Wilfrid Laurier University, in the Communication Studies
program.
Describe where you were
raised and what your childhood was like.
I was born in the beautiful city of Montreal, Quebec. I was extremely
close with my family, spending a lot of time with my parents,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. My aunt and uncle lived
next door and had a gorgeous pool, and one of my fondest memories
was when I would go over and swim with my brother. My parents
worked very hard to make sure I was happy, and I cannot find the
words to thank them enough. When I was 7 years old, we moved to
Kitchener, Ontario. I remember being very excited about the move.
In my eyes it was an adventure to a new, unknown place! Our New
neighbourhood had many children, and I became best friends with
the other kids on my street. I loved being outside playing, regardless
of rain or shine, temperatures freezing cold or scolding hot.
My grandparents had a beautiful cottage in Quebec where I would
visit every summer. I could probably go on and on forever, but
I will conclude by saying the memories of my childhood are something
I treasure very close to my heart. I feel very blessed to have
had such a wonderful and memorable childhood.
List any interesting or
unusual jobs you may have had.
Not many people know this, but my first job was actually at McDonalds!
The most interesting and enjoyable job I have ever had is my current
job as a Social Support Worker for children with disabilities.
I have been privileged to meet such wonderful families and children
while developing amazing friendships. This is truly a job that
I look forward to everyday.
List any volunteering you
have done.
I have volunteered at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board,
making resources for special needs children. I have also volunteered
at a Retirement Home.
Where is the most interesting
place you have been?
It had always been a dream of mine to visit New York City. About
a year ago, my mom surprised me with a spontaneous trip to New
York City with two of our closest family friends. It was the most
spontaneous, fun, and memorable event of my life. The city was
so full of life, energy, excitement, and people! I have always
adored watching musical theatre, so seeing a show on Broadway
was definitely one of my most memorable highlights! The reality
of my experience there far surpassed any of my dreams about such
a unique city. I plan on going back many, many times!
What makes you unique and
different from the other contestants?
I believe each and every one of the contestants are intelligent,
beautiful women who have something special and unique about them
that really allow them shine as individuals. I feel very humbled
and fortunate to have been selected to compete alongside a group
of such driven and compassionate young women. I think something
that differentiates me from the other contestants are all the
quirky and unique personality traits of who I am, what I am passionate
about, and all the little things that make me, me. That is what
I find so intriguing and interesting about the human race, we
are all naturally and effortlessly unique individuals, providing
culture and society with such a rich and diverse community.
What is your philosophy of/in life?
My philosophy in life comes from an old literary tradition that
often embarks the beginning of stories and fairy-tales; "Once
Upon a Time." I believe life is an open book we write as
we go along, so make choices that will make you proud of yourself,
do the things that make you the happiest, always treat people
the way you would want to be treated, and take chances on the
things that mean the most to you. We all have our own stories,
our own journey, our own "once upon a time." I truly
believe life is a gift and it is so important to embrace it and
make it memorable.
What do you hope to be
doing in 10 years?
One of the most exciting things about life is that you never calculate
and plan everything that happens. I believe it is important to
work hard, make goals, and plans, but to also seize opportunities
and they come to you and embrace the experiences that occur unexpectedly
every day. In 10 years, I hope to have travelled to many places
around the world, and to continue travelling to the places I have
not yet experienced. I hope to have met many people along the
way, developed many friendships and to have had some kind of positive
impact on each place I visit and each person I meet, regardless
of how small or large it may be. I hope to be happy in my career,
and to be continuously growing as a modern day women.
Is there anything you would
like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that has happened
to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I think people would be very surprised to know I have a very adventurous
element to my personality! I enjoy trying different types of sports
and activities. Some of my most memorable experiences have been
snorkelling with fish and sharks, and most of all, sailboat racing
in St. Maartens. I would like to learn how to drive a motorcycle,
try surfing in the ocean, and attempt the trapeze.
