RESOURCES OVER PAST TWO YEARS?

With Cancer and Samaritan's Purse. My work and I are also responsible
for two children, both a boy and a girl that we sponsor from Africa
and Peru.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR "DREAM
JOB" IN LIFE?
I would love to be a host and maybe a feature designer on
the World's Most Extreme Homes television show. To be able to
just travel to see such amazing Architecture and designs around
the world would be the greatest career in the world! To also have
my designs recognized on such a renowned show would make me very
proud of my work.
NAME ONE PERSON, OTHER
THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO HAS HAD THE MOST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE?
WHY?
Other than my parents it would be my boyfriend, he is one
of my best friends. He has supported me in ways I thought no one
ever could. He has shown me unconditional love throughout the
hard times, has given tough love in the darkest times but always
been so proud of who I am as a person. Because of his compassion,
I'm finally fighting to be who I want to be and the things I want
in life. He teaches me to understand that I deserve everything
I work hard for. He makes me proud to be who I am.
WHAT IS THE PROUDEST PERSONAL
ACCOMPLISHMENT (OTHER THAN BEING IN THIS OR ANY OTHER BEAUTY PAGEANT
COMPETITION)
When I was younger, I was a victim of bullying. I was constantly
dealing with the physical & mental abuse of other girls throughout
junior high, high school and out of school. However, even though
to this day I still have my bad days, I overcame my daily fight
with depression and no longer feel the effects of my misery and
hatred. I realized that I am grateful for everything I have in
my life and the past has only led me here. Not giving up on me
was my most precious personal accomplishment. I don't think that
I or anyone else deserves to be abused like that.
WHAT IS YOUR CAREER AMBITION
AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING OR PLAN TO DO TO ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL?
My passion for art led me to pursue a career in architecture
design. I am interested in designing both the exterior and interior
of either homes or buildings. Therefore I am enrolled this year
in the Architecture technology program at the Northern Alberta
institute of Technology. I am also an artist at the Visual Alberta
Arts Galleries, here in Edmonton. It allows me to continue my
work as an artist and also gives me an opportunity to showcase
my work.
DESCRIBE WHERE YOU WERE
RAISED AND WHAT YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS LIKE.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. I lived with my
loving parents and two younger brothers. I was very fortunate
to live very close to all my friend's houses. For the most part,
my childhood days consisted of meeting all my friends on our bikes
and playing in and around our neighbourhood. Besides attending
school and playing with friends, my family and I hosted and attended
many family functions. Being from a Filipino heritage, my large
family found any and every reason to celebrate anything at all.
As a kid my life has always revolved around being with the people
I was closest to. I am happy to say that my childhood produced
many great memories.
LIST ANY INTERESTING OR
UNUSUAL JOBS YOU MAY HAVE HAD.
I have worked at many part-time and full- time jobs since
I was the age of 15. The most interesting job would be the job
that I have now. Working with and learning from amazing designers
who have renowned work experience is very interesting. On a daily
basis I do get to meet and work with many different people.
LIST ANY VOLUNTEERING YOU
HAVE DONE.
I have attended and supported a fundraising for the kids with
cancer in Calgary.
WHERE IS THE MOST INTERESTING
PLACE YOU HAVE BEEN?
The most interesting place I have been would be the Dominican
Republic. Before I travelled there I've never been introduced
to a place that was so different than my own home country. To
fully experience the culture, the city and such an exotic landscape
allowed me to learn about this country first hand. I was able
to tour the city and meet so many different people, who were both
local and visiting from other parts of the world. I believe it
was a very important journey for me to be able to experience another
country and I hope to continue travelling so I may have the same
beautiful experience as I did in the Dominican Republic.
WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE AND
DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER CONTESTANTS?
I think every one of us is here during this amazing opportunity
to work and share this memorable experience together. Being one
of the contestants, I am grateful and very excited to be qualified
to be chosen among so many other unique ladies. I have had some
setbacks in my life, whether it's school or life in general, but
I am always determined and strong-minded to just pick myself up
and keep going for what I set my heart on. I remember to always
think positive and to be proud of my accomplishments. Whether
or not I am chosen to represent the Miss Universe Canada title,
I will know we have all worked hard and have come a long way to
be where we are today. I am grateful to have experienced this
opportunity and to have so many friends along the way. But I know
I would have never known any of this if I didn't have the courage
to try.
WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY
OF/IN LIFE?
Be positive, never give up, if you fall, get right back up
and keep walking.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BE
DOING IN 10 YEARS?
I want to be successful at my career as home designer and
an artist. I also hope to be happily married and raising children.
IS THERE ANYTHING
YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF? SOMETHING UNIQUE THAT
HAS HAPPENED TO YOU? SOME INTERESTING THING ABOUT YOU?
I have never met anyone with my name nor have heard anyone who
has it. I think my name is unique and has a meaning behind it
being that I am named after my father, Orlando.
