In High school I was in the drama Class and Play from level 2

were presented while I attended the school.
In what sports, if any,
have you participated and how long have you participated in each
sport?
I've been ridding horses ever since I was a child. I help my father
train race horses, yet I have never been the jockey in a race.
I enjoy playing tennis and softball, but just for fun.
Please list any schools

What charity/charities have you supported with your time and/or
resources over past two years?
When I was in Champlain College I was the "Vice-President
of External Affairs". As the "Champlain Student Association"
we organized different events to raise money for the "Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation". We also held a spaghetti supper
to raise money for our local elementary school.
I usually donate my time at the annual event for the "Children's
wish foundation". I'll bring my horse out in the ring and
give children free rides. Most of the kids have never ridden a
horse before which makes the experience all-the-more memorable.
If ever there are organized dances in the area for charities I
am sure to be there with a bag full of non-perishable items.
What would be your "dream
job" in life?
Ever since I was a child I always wanted to be an actress.
Name one person, other
than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life?
Why?
Honestly, there is no particular person who has influenced my
life more than another. I would have to say that my biggest influence
for the past four years has been my horse Buddy. When Buddy was
5 weeks old his mother died and we had to raise him on goat's
milk. Buddy has always been my little baby and I love him dearly.
When he was growing up he would follow me around outside as if
I was his mother. Buddy has always been accident prone. Every
year he hurts himself in one way or another, but in the end he
stays strong and never gives up on life. Unlike with humans, when
a horse breaks a leg or has a serious injury they are usually
put down. Two Halloweens ago I was training him on the track,
a dog scared him and he flipped on his side with all the equipment
on. When Buddy hit his head on the track (which is almost as hard
as cement) he knocked himself unconscious. I thought he was dead
because he stopped breathing for a couple minutes. Horses are
not supposed to lie down for more than two hours because it affects
their circulation and bodily function. Buddy was lying down with
an IV in his neck for 14 hours. When we called the vet after 13
hours he said he was going to come put Buddy down. A few minutes
before the Vet arrived Buddy gathered his strength and stood up.
He was extremely weak and unstable, but it was as if he knew he
had to pull though. Buddy has lost his sight in one eye and still
has problems with his balance, yet he is a big strong horse who
has helped me realise that you cannot give up even when it seems
like the end is near. His determination has been inspirational
to me and I hope to have this wonderful horse in my life for many
years to come.
What is the proudest personal
accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant
competition)
One of the proudest accomplishments I've achieved in my life is
training race horses with my father. There is no other feeling
like making a close connection with an animal. I've always been
amazed with how much I've learned from horses. They've taught
me to be patient, trusting and caring. When you jog a race horse
around the track you appreciate the simple things in life. When
you train a race horse at full speed there is a rush of adrenaline
that runs through your body. Training horses is very fulfilling
and I take much pride in what my father and I accomplish together.
What is your career ambition
and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I have always dreamt of being an actress, yet lately I have been
thinking about becoming an elementary school teacher. I have applied
to universities in Montréal in "Elementary education".
While living in Montréal I will have access to nearby theatres.
I plan to audition for plays while attending school in Montréal.
Hopefully I will be able to accomplish both dreams at once.
Describe where you were raised
and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in a small town called Ayer's Cliff. When I was a
child I spent most of my time at the barn with my father. We had
Standard bred race horses, ponies, beef cattle, goats, and bunnies.
When you're raised around animals you have much responsibility,
because it is a family business. Up until the age of 4 my older
brothers would help out with the chores, but afterwards they moved
to the United States to start a family of their own. I loved helping
my dad clean the horse stalls and feed the animals. When the work
was done I could go ride my pony or take my goats for a walk.
I learnt what work was at a young age and I am very grateful for
it. I was a very energetic child who also loved to play.
List any interesting or
unusual jobs you may have had.
A few years ago I had a summer job at a Christmas tree plantation.
I was a tree trimmer. My friend and I were the only two girls
who had ever successfully worked a whole summer at this tree plantation.
List any volunteering you
have done.
Most of the volunteering I do is with kids from my hometown. I
try to teach them new skills such as cooking, farming and horseback
ridding. My friends and I will aid their parents by taking a group
of kids sliding, skating, biking, and other fun outdoor activities.
It keeps the kids active and gives parents a chance to relax.
My father is 77 years old and he still has 40 head of cattle and
6 race horses. I am the youngest child in the family; therefore,
when I left the house my father lost his help with the animals.
Even though I don't live with my parents anymore I try to go home
about 3 times a week to help him with his chores.
Where is the most interesting
place you have been?
I have travelled to Spain, France, Italy and Greece on two separate
school trips. The history in Europe is so interesting and overwhelming.
I truly enjoyed every city that I visited, yet my two favourites
were Capri, Italy and Delphi, Greece. The landscapes in these
areas are breath-taking. I love to travel for so many reasons,
but I mostly enjoy learning about other cultures and lifestyles.
What makes you unique and
different from the other contestants?
Growing up with such an older father has always made me different
from others. My father was born during the depression in 1931.
His family didn't have much, but they made the most of everything
they had. Back then, you learnt to enjoy the simple things in
life. My father has instilled this way of thinking in me and helped
me understand the ideologies of a past generation. My father is
strong, hard working and proud, yet he knows how to tell a great
joke and have a good time. Working side by side with him at the
stables has made me very much like him. I want to thank him for
many of the characteristics and qualities we share.
What is your philosophy of/in
life?
When I read this question I asked myself "what does life
consist of?". Life is simply one moment after another, after
another. I believe that it is important to embrace each moment
and to live it to its fullest potential. Life can only be lived
in the present. I believe when each separate moment is enjoyed
it makes life as a whole a much happier experience. When one cherishes
each moment in their lives they can find the secret to happiness.
I find inner happiness to be one of the most important aspects
in my life. At times it is difficult to enjoy and accept certain
moments, yet when you accept each moment for what it is you can
make peace with it. Even if a situation seems unfavourable or
bad you realize down the road that it was for a greater purpose.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and life is what
you make of it.
What do you hope to be doing
in 10 years?
In 10 years I hope that I am helping others. Hopefully I will
be an elementary school teacher, or some other form of teacher.
I hope to travel all over the world helping different people with
different tasks (whatever they may be). I hope to be a happy motivating
person who helps others find happiness in their lives. Where I
live or what I possess does not really concern me. I hope to be
healthy, happy and share love with many.
Is there anything
you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that
has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I am a fun-loving small-town girl who loves to try new things.
I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their lives and
personal experiences. I signed-up for this competition because
I believe I could help make this world a better place, and I believe
the people who are associated with Miss Universe Canada can help
me with my goal.
