What would be your "dream job" in life?
World traveller, professional student or stand up comedian.
Name one
person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence
on your life? Why?
I had a
biology teacher in grade 12 named Mr. White who changed my life.
Grade 12 is such an important time in a young person's life and
he made a significant impression on me. Even though I was unaware
of it at the time, his teachings initiated my curiosity in biology
which in turn affected my career choice. He was very inspiring
and supportive to his students and He showed me that I was capable
of anything if I wanted it. He motivated me to find my passion
for helping people, teaching and my interest in human biology.
Thus, he had such an influence on me I decided to enter into nursing.
Now, I absolutely love my career, I would like to continue in
Health care for the rest of my life. Because of his influence
and passion for teaching I could not imagine doing anything else.
What is the proudest personal accomplishment (other than being
in this or any other beauty pageant competition)
My proudest
person accomplishment was obtaining my degree with distinction
dean's honours standings. I just recently purchase my first house.
Prior to my degree, I went traveling to the other side of the
world with only a backpack.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to
do to accomplish that goal?
I currently
specialize in Trauma and will be doing emergency nursing when
I have completed my courses in advanced trauma life support. I
would like to work with the youth and educate them on the affects
of gang violence in the hopes of prevention. Working on the "stars"
emergency helicopter has always been a dream of mine I would love
to obtain. I plan on attending graduate school to achieve a masters
degree in nursing and begin my nurse practitioner clinical experience.
I am on my way to obtaining these goals by enhancing my nursing
skills by attending advancement courses offered through the Alberta
Health services. I would like my career to eventually lead to
introducing and possibly incorporating alternative, cultural practices
into conventional medicine. I would be able to reach this goal
by traveling the world, learning from diverse cultures, conducting
research and opening my own practice one day.
Describe
where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised
in a small town just outside of Calgary. I also spent a lot of
time on my god parents farm with my only brother Reed. I grew
up with a very supportive family that vastly influenced my core
values of education, family and open mindedness. We did everything
together including a lot of travel. We have travelled in a westvalia
van to Alaska, gone biking on the Victoria islands and travelled
all over the country and to Mexico. My dad has always been my
hero and taught me to be independent. He always was there to listen
and give me advice and taught me how to change my oil in my car.
Both my parents believe in me and support all my efforts in school,
band and dance. They encouraged me to use my talents and I became
my student body president in high school and planned multiple
events, charities and fundraisers. They gave me the opportunity
to enjoy any sports I wanted to like skiing, water sports, golfing
and a lot of dance which I am truly grateful of. They encourage
me to travel after school and supported my interested in nursing
as my mother was an LPN. My mother has been the voice behind my
goal to work with alternative therapies as she currently practices
massage, aromatherapy and reki. My brother has also been a very
influential person in my life and has always been there for me.
My childhood was a wonderful time filled with learning, experiences
and a lot of laughing.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

Where
is the most interesting place you have been?
The
most interesting places I have been are: a small Island off Thailand
only accessible by boat, the capital of Alaska on July 4th, the
most eastern point of Australia for sunrise.
What makes
you unique and different from the other contestants?
I like
to win against the boys and some times I am SUCCESSFUL. I can
throw a great spiral football. I did learn to ride a unicycle
once.
What is
your philosophy of/in life?
Laugh,
a lot!!! If you want something, go out and get it. I aspire to
reach my potential, travel the world and heal those who hurt.
What do
you hope to be doing in 10 years?
I would
like to be working as the nurse in charge within the next few
months and would like to be a unit manager at one point as well.
I would like to take part in an educational program called "the
party program" which works to prevent youth from drinking
and driving. I am currently enrolled in advancement courses offered
through the Alberta Health services in order to start emergency
nursing. I would also like to get involved in local education
to prevent gang violence. I plan on attending graduate school
in the next 5 years to obtain a masters degree in nursing and
begin my nurse practitioner clinical experience. I am interested
in becoming a physician if my path leads me that direction. I
would like to be travelling around the world with my boyfriend
and maybe husband at that point to gain life experience, learn
about world culture and myself. I would love to settle down in
a small town in Canada and raise a family.
Is there
anything you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique
that has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I love
to live life and experience life. I love to listen to my patients
stories and learn about their unique lives. I love animals as
much as humans and believe they have the same rights. Music, dancing
and laughing are the cheapest medicine!
I have been too close for comfort with a grizzly bear.
On a golf course in Kelowna I got a Hole in One!
