What would be your "dream job" in life?
My dream job is to become a marketing director in the fashion industry and to be part of the entertainment business, as well. I would also like to keep dancing and be part of a famous group.
Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life? Why?
My grandmother. She’s always been there for me and she has always been a big part of my life. She has a big influence in my life and she keeps telling me to never give up and to keep following my dreams. She is a role model in my life and I look up to her a lot. My grandmother is 70 years old and she lives by herself and she is still working hard. She’s very independent and she has great values. She is very special to me and I want to be like her when I get older.
What is the proudest personal accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant competition)
A couple of years ago, I went to Cuba for a month on a humanitarian
trip. I was living in a school in very poor conditions. I went
there to help repair a school, and to do work in the fields. My
group and I brought bicycles and school supplies for the children
who attended the school we were working at. I saw what it was
like to live over there with a minimum of resources. The Cubans
never complained and they are happier than we are. They are very
loving and caring people. Maybe we are richer because we have
more money and material goods but the Cubans are richer than us
in terms of values. Living in Cuba was not easy and I’m
very proud of myself to have accomplished something like this.
That experience changed my outlook on life and it made me realize
how lucky we are to live in Canada and we should be more grateful
for what we have.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I want to work in marketing. I will finish university to get my degree and maybe go for my MBA. I concentrate on school and I participate in school competitions such as the Commerce Games (JDC) and the Happening Marketing.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in the small town of Aylmer, Quebec. I have lived there all my life and I have very happy memories of my childhood. I have a very loving family and my parents have always been there for me. They took me everywhere with them. I know that I am very lucky to have such good parents and that they are still together. My parents taught me great values and they have made me who I am today.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
My first job was at Athletes World where I sold shoes and sports clothes.
I worked at the Théâtre du Casino for four years and I met very famous people. I talked with Denis Deyoung, I got a hug from Julio Iglesias, I hung out with the winners of Canadian Idol, and I met Frank Sinatra Jr, Michael Bublé, dancers from Lord of the Dance and many more.
List any volunteering you have done.
- Show for the United Way: Along with my colleagues at the Lac Leamy Complex, we put a show together for the United Way in November 2006 and 2007. I practiced 3 times a week and the result was a 2 hour variety show and we made over 20 000$ both years.
- Bake sale for the Heart and Stroke foundation
- Humanitarian trip to Cuba
- Student Association member (REMAA): I was a member of the student association at my University for a year and I was a member of the administration council of the business administration program.
- Talent show for disabled people.
Where is the most interesting place you have been?
Chichén Itzà, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
What makes me unique and different is that I believe that being beautiful is being real and by letting your inner beauty shine trough, you let people know and see who you really are. People can look up to me and see a good role model because I am a real person and I am not a portrait of the idealistic woman we see in magazines. Young woman can identify themselves to me and see that even if I am a normal person like them and I want that to inspire them to go after their dreams like I did.
What is your philosophy of/in life?
Never give up on your dreams and live your life to the fullest.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
In ten 10 years, I will still be dancing and hopefully have my dream job. I want to be happy and have a family.
Is there anything you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I am a very daring person and I love to challenge myself. I try everything and I take every opportunity I get. I went skydiving last summer and it was the most trilling experience of my life. I was also on So You Think you Can Dance Canada where I made it to the top 50 in Montreal. But, I think that the most interesting fact about me is that I lost 50 pounds at the end of High School. I was very heavy and I got teased a lot. I then decided to get in shape and I started to take care of myself and never in a million years would I have thought that I would be a delegate for the Miss Universe Canada Pageant.
