Twenty two year old Lauren McKamey grew up in the small town of Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. She is very adventurous and spontaneous. Lauren loves to travel the world and meet new people.

So far she has seen Italy, Scotland, Thailand, China, Cambodia, Laos and lived in parts of the United States.

Actively involved in her community, Lauren loves to volunteer and help people. She recently became a sponsor parent for a child in India and would love to visit her some day.

If chosen to be Miss Universe Canada Lauren would represent the women of Canada as beautiful, intelligent individuals who are savvy, goal-oriented and aware.

What would be your "dream job" in life?
My dream job in life would be a spokes person for young women across Canada so that I could positively influence their lives.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life? Why?
Besides my parents and family, my friends influence my life daily. They are supportive and encouraging and always looking at the positive things in life.

What is the proudest personal accomplishment (other than being in this or any other beauty pageant competition)?
I recently returned from a 2-month trip to S.E. Asia. I saw one of the most beautiful parts of the world and made 6 new friends I will never forget.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to become a paralegal in criminal law. I will be returning to school this fall.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in a small town on Vancouver Island. I was always surrounded by people I knew and loved and have fond memories of growing up.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
My first job ever was working at McDonalds!

List any volunteering you have done.
Recently I have committed to sponsoring a child in India through world Vision.

Where is the most interesting place you have been?
The Great Wall of China!!!! I intend to see all of the 7 wonders of the world!

What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
I think that all of the contestants are beautiful, smart and unique in their own way.

What is your philosophy of/in life?
Be positive and positive things will happen to you. Life is not about what happens to you, but how you react to it.

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
In 10 years I hope to still be traveling around the world, meeting new people and seeing all of the beautiful places of the world!

Is there anything you would like to tell us about yourself? Something unique that has happened to you? Some interesting thing about you?
I love to travel. I backpacked South East Asia, with a 4-day layover in China, at the end of last year. I had so much fun riding the elephants, bamboo river rafting, and trekking through the jungle! I can't wait to see the rest of the world!
