What would be your "Dream Job"
in life?
My dream job is to be an actress and a positive, and
inspirational speaker.
Name one person, other than your parents,
who has had the most influence on your life? Why?
The people who have had a big influence on my life while
growing up were my teachers through school. Because without
them I wouldn't have been able to accomplish my years
of schooling and carry on into post secondary with the
discipline they have given me throughout the years.
What is the proudest personal accomplishment?
Making college provincials and than advancing to college
Nationals for x-country with SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute
of Technology) fall 2007.
What is your career ambition and what
are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Once I am finished my Petroleum Land Management course
this coming spring of 2008, I plan to enroll with an oil
company in Calgary for experience. Than I plan to attend
the University of Calgary in the drama program in the
2008 winter semester and get more experience in acting.
Describe where you were raised and what
your childhood was like?
- I was raised on the Blood Reserve, which is the
largest reserve in Canada. I feel very fortunate to have
been able to grow up in such beautiful scenery by the
Rocky Mountains.
My childhood was a great experience, because I wouldn't
be the person I am today without the support of my parents
and grandparents who have helped mould my foundation and
humbleness and outlook I have on life today.
List any interesting or unusual jobs
you may have had?
One job that was kind of unordinary for me was being
an Aboriginal Junior Forest Ranger in the summer of 2005.
It was a great experience being able to travel and camp
out in the Rocky Mountains and learn the importance of
our environment, and always being on the look out for
bears. Throughout this summer job I was able to get my
chainsaw certificate, and bear awareness certificate.
List Any Volunteering you have done?
Kids Help Phone
50 km day run for sobriety within the Treaty 7 tribes
200 km 2 day run for sobriety
Awareness for suicide prevention on the Blood Reserve
Raising funds for Breast Cancer
Where is the most interesting place you
have been?
Hawaii. Final year of high school, I got the chance to
participate in a basketball tournament in Hawaii with
my high school girls basketball team. The trip turned
out to be a family trip as well and it was a great 7-day
vacation with a wonderful cultural experience too.
What makes you unique and different from
the other contestants?
I have made it this far in the competition, because
I want to be here and to have an opportunity to be able
to make a difference and represent Canada is a dream come
true. I want to be able to make a difference in people's
lives, especially in the younger generation because they
are our future and well I basically want to show them
that the sky's the limit. The experience that you get
while having the title of Miss Universe Canada is a great
opportunity to help people and that is what I value and
cherish in life.
What is your philosophy of/ in life?
My philosophy is that "strivers achieve what
dreamers believe, don't ever hesitate to take the lead!"
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
I plan to finish school and continue my career in the
oil and gas industry and than eventually change my career
in a direction that I will be able to help others. I plan
to get my teaching degree in drama and plan one day to
help others express themselves in the art of drama.
Is there anything you would like to tell
us about yourself? Something unique that has happened
to you? Some interesting thing about you?
Over the past year I have won the Regional Top Native
Model and advanced to the National title that I was very
fortunate to win. Currently I am the national Top Native
Model. With this title so far, I have been honoured and
looked upon as a youth role model and have been able to
be an inspirational talker, which I find has matured me
so much, since that I just graduated from high school
a little over a year and a half ago.
I take this whole
experience a blessing, because I never knew that I would
be able to accomplish this, because I was a very shy insecure
person at one time. I thank my parents and grandparents
and close family for the support they have given me in
order to achieve what I have accomplished so far. I plan
on striving for more in order to make a difference and
experience a once in a lifetime chance in representing
Canada.
