What would be your "dream job"
in life?
My "dream job" would to be a lawyer / archaeologist
working in the Mediterranean to save, preserve and restore
antiquities, as well as working with various governments
to help solve issues of ownership.
Name one person, other than your parents,
who has had the most influence on your life? Why?
Other than my parents, my high school English teacher
Ms. Graham has had the most influence on my life. She
has a fantastic sense of style and designs her own clothes,
but more importantly, she believed in my dreams and me.
She also has so much composure, grace and elegance that
I have aspired to emulate her in these ways.
What is the proudest personal accomplishment
(other than being in this or any other beauty pageant
competition)
My proudest personal accomplishment is graduating from
York University with an Honours B.A. , despite having
to work my way through in order to pay tuition.
What is your career ambition and what
are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to become a corporate lawyer working
in Calgary. To accomplish this, I am preparing to write
the LSAT and will be taking courses at the University
of Calgary that focus on justice, law and society. Additionally,
I plan to once again work in a law firm so as to get hands
on experience.
Describe where you were raised and what
your childhood was like.
I was born and raised in the City of Sudbury, Ontario;
but now known as the Greater City of Sudbury. Sudbury
is a beautifully forested but rocky city which has many
lakes in and around its borders. Because of this, I was
exposed to nature and animals at a very early age and
have maintained an appreciation for it even as I have
moved to major city hubs and provincial capitals
I was
very fortunate to have two wonderful parents and four
fabulous grandparents who took an active role in my upbringing.
My brother and I would spend many weekends, holidays and
summer vacations with my mother's parents on Lake Wahnapitae
where we would go quadding, snowmobiling and boating,
and after school hours would be spent with my father's
parents where we would play games and explore the city.
I was also fortunate to know three of my great-grandparents
and learn about their different cultures/heritages.
Perhaps it is because they did not speak English that
I became interested in languages. I was always very active
in school sports from the time I was in second grade and
right through high school; while outside of school I took
swimming, dance and tae kwon do lessons. I had a very
special childhood because I was always surrounded by family
members who were supportive and active in everything I
did.

-Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen
-Sudbury SPCA
-Calgary Humane Society
Where is the most interesting place you
have been?
-Veradero, Cuba
What makes you unique and different from
the other contestants?
I am unique from the other contestants because no one
has the same experiences or stories that I have. While
similarities may be claimed, I am unique simply because
I am "me" and no one else can make that claim.
My mixed heritage represents the principles of which Canada
was founded on and has given me a different view of the
world, as well as the chance to make me the best that
I can be.
What is your philosophy of/in life?
-Everything happens for a reason-learn from your experiences.
-When the time is right, it will happen.
What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?
In 10 years I hope to be making a difference in the world
for the better. As a lawyer, I will have the opportunity
to change minds, to improve laws and legislation, and
to be a voice in the community. I plan to use this influence
to the advantage of all.
Is there anything you would like to tell
us about yourself? Something unique that has happened
to you? Some interesting thing about you?
Although I am here to win, the Miss Universe Canada 2008
competition is more to me than a title and a crown. This
is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would not give
up. I know I will learn lessons here that I can take with
me and apply to my everyday life as well as my future
law career, and I expect to learn more about myself and
my strengths, perhaps my weaknesses too. As someone who
loves to learn, I eagerly await the chance to meet my
fellow delegates and learn about their unique histories
and cultures.
