JESSICA PANETTA

AGE: 19 | HEIGHT: 5'8" | HOMETOWN: NIAGARA FALLS

Nineteen-year-old Jessica was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, but is recently completing her second year at McMaster university in Hamilton, Ontario. As she studies Combined Honours in Theatre & Film and Religion with a Minor in Sociology, she has always had the drive to pursue her education in order to become a high school teacher.

Jessica has recently been appointed an executive chair member for the International Campaign for the Violence against Women (V-Day). Along with this position, she is co-director for the 2007 Campaign Dramatic Production. Her other theatre experience includes many works throughout high school and university, holding leads in many roles, including musicals. Jessica has always loved to sing, dance and act; however her longest running accomplishment was her 15 year Provincial Gymnastics career.

As a past Chairperson for the Mayors Youth Advisory Committee in 2005, she has had the opportunity to work with many non-profit and volunteering organizations. She assisted in the grand opening of the Niagara Falls Skate Park and co-ordinated the City Wide Centennial Celebration. She was also the high school co-ordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Stair Climb for Cancer between 2001-2005, and most recently is the second year representative on the McMaster Humanities Society.

Traveling and exploring new cultures has always been an important part in her life. By participating in an experience such as Miss Universe Canada, Jessica understands and anticipates the opportunity to become a role model for young people everywhere and a positive Canadian Ambassador.
