AGE: 24 | HEIGHT: 5'8" | HOMETOWN: CALGARY, AB

Lisa was born and raised in Canada but is very proud of her Irish background. She says you can tell by her love of potatoes. She is very close to her family and couldn’t be happier with all the love and support they give her. Although she jokes about being the “black sheep” of the family for not becoming a personal trainer like her mother, step-father and sister, she still enjoys an active lifestyle. Lisa likes to hike and work out in the gym but mostly she loves running. She says she loves living in Calgary because in the winter she gets to go running by the river during the Chinooks.

Lisa is the kind of girl who likes to laugh. That is why you will find her frequenting the comedy clubs or going to watch funny movies at the theatres. She believes that laughter is one of the most important things in life, as it has a very positive and healing effect on the body and soul. She is also a big believer in the healing power of pets, which is why she looks forward to coming home everyday to cuddle with her 3 rescued cats.

Some of Lisa’s favorite things to do are writing poetry and reading novels or the newspaper. She also has a passion for photography and creating short films. In the future she would like to travel the world and experience different cultures.

Charity work is something that is very important to Lisa and she dedicates much of her spare time to volunteering. She is proud of the fact that she has volunteered over 500 hours this year and helped raise over $100,000 for charities. Lisa is very thankful for all the opportunities to work with many different charities this year through her title as Miss Calgary 2006.

If Lisa becomes Miss Universe Canada, she would like to work closely with HIV/AIDS foundations. As well as diabetes and cancer foundations, as her family has been affected by these two diseases. She also feels that it is important to embrace and promote an active lifestyle. Lisa feels strongly about helping elevate the awareness of Canadian pageants, breaking down the stereotypes against them and showing the opportunities they provide. But most importantly, she wants to promote not drinking and driving because her father died in a drinking related car accident.

Lisa would like to invite you to visit her webpage to learn more about her and follow her through the pageant with her blog. Her webpage is: www.myspace.com/misscalgary2006
