Leah attributes her Joie de Vie to her parent’s small town beginnings and to her love of expression through ballet. By age nine, she was defining her studies in the art of Classical Ballet at The National Ballet, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and The Kirov Ballet. She has received numerous awards and scholarships for her articulate technique and artistic expression.
Leah is a bilingual (English and French) student in her second year at the University of Waterloo working towards an Honours Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology. On warm, summer nights, you will find Leah at the racetrack cheering on the family-owned Race Car. Leah jokes, using standard racetrack humour, that the Miss Universe Canada Competition, like racing, is not as simple as “Point and Pray” or “Go Fast and Turn Left”.
For Leah, blending ballet and stock car racing is natural. This open attitude and inner security define her ability to face future challenges and opportunities. Leah believes you need unconditional passion for whatever you wish to pursue in life. Her outlook on every situation is to always do your best, respect your competition, learn something new, show good sportsmanship, be humble in victory and graceful in defeat, grow from the life lessons, and ultimately, stay true to yourself.
Leah would like to express her heartfelt
thanks to her family for their unwavering support and to
her dedicated sponsors who willingly said “Count me
in”. She would like to extend her sincere best
wishes to all of her fellow contestants and she is excited
to witness the talent that will cross the Miss Universe
Canada Stage.
