Julianne was born and raised in Vancouver, which she believes is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. She is in her fourth year at the University of British Columbia majoring in Political Science, with a focus on international peace and security. She studied for a year at a university in Tokyo where she fell in love with Japanese culture. Julianne is a natural linguist and can converse in five languages.
Julianne is passionate about helping people, both in Canada and around the world. She has been actively involved in programs in Vancouver helping the homeless and has been sponsoring a girl in Zambia through World Vision International since she was thirteen. Given the opportunity to represent her country as Miss Universe Canada, Julianne would continue to support initiatives to help keep young people off the streets as well as those that play a role in integrating immigrant students into Canadian society.
Julianne enjoys cooking, skiing, kayaking, reading and karaoke and seeks adventure wherever she goes. She dreams of one day trekking across the Himalayas to see some of the world’s most remote places. She loves spending time with her friends and younger sister and takes pride in never allowing herself to become bored.
Julianne’s philosophy in life is that
if a person can do something good for the world, he or she
should do it because everyone has unique gifts that nobody
else can put to use.
