Ashley wears the flag of her province with pride. As a Newfoundlander – who does double-duty as a Bachelor of Arts student with majors in French and Journalism at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick – she exemplifies the heart, soul, and ambitious characteristics of the people of her province.
Ashley’s passion for drama and public speaking – she speaks fluent French and English, with a sprinkling of Spanish – started young. It carried into her adolescent and adult life, securing her regional, provincial, and even international awards for acting and bilingual public speaking – and even winning her the title of Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador 2003.
As a media personality having worked in broadcast, print, and radio, Ashley understands the benefit of using media influence to help make a difference in the community. She has worked with Tim Hortons’ Camp Day, as well as Best Buddies, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Fredericton Food Bank, the Fair Trade Society, and Heavenly Creatures, to name a few charities. In her spare time, Ashley loves to dance, read Jasper Fforde and Stephen King, and hang out with the loves of her life: her two dogs.
She believes that becoming Miss Universe Canada would be a great way to fuse her media work with her title to shed light on various national causes, including the importance of a high school education and the empowerment of young women to realize their full potential.
“Carpe diem”
is Ashley’s motto; why do tomorrow what you can do
today? Dreams are within reach, as long as you’re
willing to work to reach out and grab them. Ashley would
like to thank her many generous sponsors, and can’t
wait to chat with the other Miss Universe Canada delegates.
