What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

The craziest thing I have ever done was when I decided to try and overcome my fear of the ocean. I had always feared what was “in” the ocean so I decided to go out into the ocean about shoulder deep. All of a sudden a felt the most painful thing I had ever experienced in my whole life. I had been stung by a sting-ray. I was unaware that it was sting-ray season and that I was supposed to walk in the water shuffling my feet. I was determined to not give up, so I gave the ocean another chance and went snorkeling a week later. Let’s just say I seen more then enough sting rays, and although I was afraid that I was going to get stung again, it defiantly helped cure my fear of the ocean.

What charity/charities have you supported with your time and/or resources over the past two years?

I have volunteered on different committees with the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce during the past year
I have been volunteering with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association.
I have participated in fundraising for various causes throughout my hometown.

What would be your “Dream Job” in life:

My dream job in life would be a pharmaceutical sales representative. I would love to work all over the country working for a big pharmaceutical company promoting their products to various different doctors. Not only would this be exciting, but I think it would be challenging and different each and every day.

Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to being a Miss Universe Canada contestant) that makes you especially proud.

One personal accomplishment that makes me especially proud is how I work two jobs, volunteer on different committee’s while attending school full time. Although it’s always busy, when I look at the big picture, I’m really proud of myself. I work really hard so it’s nice when I can look back and see results. It’s very rewarding!

What is the most important thing you want people to know about you?

I am an extremely determined. I have always worked really hard to achieve the things that are really important to me in life. Hard work, perseverance, dedication and commitment are things that I practice every day in my life. Also, I am a positive, kind-hearted person who always strives to make the people around me happy. I believe strongly in being optimistic, life’s too short to sweat the small things.

What are your favorite movie, song, sport, and food?

Movie: Hotel Rwanda
Song: We're Here For A Good Time (Not A Long Time)
Food: Pasta & salad! (I love lasagna, spaghetti, fettuccini … etc)
Sport: Lacrosse (I do not play, but I absolutely LOVE the sport)

What would you like to accomplish if you win the Miss Universe Canada title?

If chosen to represent my country as Miss Universe Canada, I would like to achieve my goal of being a positive role model for children all around the country by demonstrating intelligence, compassion, as well as strength and ambition. As Miss Universe Canada, I would love to fulfill this goal by talking to children around the country about how important self esteem is. I feel as though many people, especially children, feel pressured to look a certain way, or do certain things in order to fit into society. With all of the different media today, many children feel as though they have to portray a certain image.

I believe that the first step to happiness and contentment is to be happy and satisfied with yourself in everything that you do. I would love to speak with the youth around the country to help them realize that having a good self esteem is important to help them to succeed, and achieve all of their goals.

A motto that has served you as inspiration.

”Learn from the past, plan for the future, and live in the present.”

It is so important to learn from the things that you have done in the past, plan in advance for the things that lie ahead, and live your life to the fullest as each day passes by. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so that is why I find this motto to be very inspiring.
