About Mélanie: Melanie’s traveling passion has made her a real “globetrotter”. Melanie, who has a 3 year working experience in the public relations domain, has lived all around the world: 4 months in Germany, 2 years in the Dominican Republic and 1 month in Morocco. She speaks French, English, Spanish and a little bit of German. She has a degree in International Business and she plans to pursue her studies furthermore with an MBA in Public Relations.

Interests: Melanie is also a great athlete, during her years as an artistic skater, she won two national championships and one worldwide championship title.


What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

The craziest thing I have ever done in my life is when I took off to the Dominican Republic. I wanted to learn spanish; the next day after my arrival I was hired to work in Public Relations for a hotel chain!!!

What charity have you supported with your time over the past two years?

During the past years I have been teaching (voluntarily) artistic skating to young kids. In 1998 after hurricane George devastated the Dominican Republic I worked as a volunteer by helping tourists with their immediate needs and making sure they were returing back home safetly.

What would be your dream job in life?

I would love to work in a multinational company organizing events as well as promote business with the goal of improving its development and commercial objectives.

Name one personal accomplishment that makes you proud.

During many years, I was part of the Synchronized Artistic Skating Team of Canada. The Etincelles de Carlesbourg. We won several championships particularly the World Championship in Boston.

What is the most important thing you want people to know about you?

I want people to remember that I give a big deal of importance to each person I encounter in my life.

What is your favorite movie, song, sport and food?

My favorite movie without a doubt is « Crash » because it shows the difficulties of racial integration and acceptance. Also it shows that everything in life is conected and happens for a reason.

My favorite sport, of course, is Artistic Skating.

What would you like to accomplish if you win Miss Univers Canada?

I would love to bring people together, specially young people. I wuold love for them to see the similarities between races and cultures. I would love to be open to other functions in order to discover aspects of how our societies are organized nowadays.
