About Leslie: Leslie Gauthier is 23 years of age. She is a Métis woman who was born in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Leslie currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta where she is in her third year of Business Management at the University of Lethbridge.

As a student and part time employee in the banking industry, Leslie also pursues her other interests in yoga, fitness training, modeling and community service endeavors.

Interests: As well as her passion for fashion, Leslie also loves to travel and meet people of other cultures. Leslie is a mentor and role-model to many people. Her drive and determination toward independence and her interest in humanitarian issues is an inspiration that motivates many people that meet her to become the best that they can be. This Miss Universe Canada pageant is both an exciting and challenging opportunity that Leslie is embracing with enthusiasm.


What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

The craziest thing that I have done so far is conquering my fear of snorkeling in the ocean off the coast of Mexico. I was nervous the whole time, but I will never forget being swarmed by all the fish while feeding them right from my hands.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream job in life will be to own and operate a business that allows me to incorporate my passions for fashion, travel and public relations.

Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to being a Miss Universe Canada contestant) that makes you especially proud.

The accomplishment that makes me most proud is that I have been successful at being independent since graduating high school.

What is the most important thing you want people to know about you?

It is important to me that people know that I live my life striving to uphold my values of compassion and kindness in all of my relationships with others.

What is your favorite movie, song, sport, and food?

Movie: Pretty Woman

Song: Independent Women by Destiny’s Child

Sport: Golfing

Food: East Indian Cuisine

What would you like to accomplish if you win the Miss Universe Canada title?

I would use this as an opportunity to continue to bring recognition to National and International causes. It would also be my intention to gain knowledge and experience in public relations that would prove valuable in my future career and community involvement.

I believe that most things happen for a reason, so you should learn and grow from the experience.
