About Krystal: On July 2 she will celebrate my 19th birthday. True to her zodiac sign of Cancer, she tends to feel all moods to the fullest. She energetically embraces life with enthusiasm and appreciation. As a first year Life Science student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, she is in the first stage of her goal of becoming a surgeon. She is very fortunate to have the support of a loving family and many special friends. Nine years of classes and competitive dancing in ballet, lyrical, pointe, jazz and musical theatre have taught her poise, self discipline, cooperation and effective time management skills. She enjoys people of all ages and as a volunteer at St. Mary’s on the Lake Long Term Care Facility. She has discovered how gratifying it is to be able to make a difference to someone through little acts of kindness. She is a certified National Lifesaving Society Life Guard/Swim Instructor and also a model with an agency in Toronto. This summer she hopes to have a modeling assignment overseas or be employed again with the City of North Bay as Head Guard at the waterfront.

Interests: I enjoy dancing (all types), swimming, fishing and kayaking. Her hobbies include reading, ballet classes, swimming and fishing.

What would be your "dream job" in life?

For the past ten years my dream has been to become a surgeon.

Name one personal accomplishment (in addition to being a Miss Universe Canada contestant) that makes you especially proud.

One of my proudest accomplishments was being selected for the position of Head Life Guard for the City of North Bay Waterfront. As a rookie attending the try-outs with many seasoned beach life guards, I was extremely proud to have been chosen as a head guard for one of the three beaches in North Bay.

What is the most important thing you want people to know about you?

I want people to know that I am always my self and I resist attempts to alter who I am to please others. I enjoy living life to the fullest and taking in all that I can. I am sensitive to others feelings and always try to see the best in people.

What is your favourite movie, song, sport, and food?

My favourite movie is The Notebook and my favourite song is First Love by Utada Hikaru. Dancing is by far my favourite sport and fajitas (all varieties) are my favourite food.

What would you like to accomplish if you win the Miss Universe Canada title?

I have been very fortunate to have had many amazing opportunities for personal achievement in my life. I would like to encourage Canadians, both young and old, to seek out some of the opportunities that are available to them. I believe it is important for people to be aware that embracing new things can contribute to a more satisfying life. I would like to help people find the courage to take these personal risks.

A motto that has served you as inspiration.

A motto that has inspired me is a quote from Emerson “Make the most of yourself for that is all there is of you”
